My Journey in The Tiny House Movement – Behind Aussie Tiny Houses

Hi, I’m Fabio Paulucci, Founder of Aussie Tiny Houses and a tiny house movement enthusiast.
Welcome to our blog!
In 2013 while researching what makes people healthy and happy I discovered the Tiny House movement for the first time. That was when I realised that a change in housing was the solution to our financial, environmental and relationship issues and decided to do something about it!
Design thinking in action
The Aussie Tiny Houses journey began while I was studying Permaculture Design and how communities grow food. I noticed people were feeling held back and stuck, living quite the opposite way to what they needed and really wanted. There was a stark contrast between the ideal of a working vegetable garden and the small blocks of fenced off land with large empty houses on them. So I began to research alternative housing.
Yurts and container homes were the first buildings I found information about. Then one day I came across an American video on Tiny Houses and it was very clear to me that this was the long-term housing solution we needed here in the Australian climate.
Tiny Houses increased in demand in the US during the 1930s depression and the 2007 crash. But in 2013 in Australia, there was nothing like these wonderful houses. I researched everything I could find from the US so I could create an attractive, comfortable and affordable housing solution for Australians.
Growing the Vision
I’m delighted about the many conspiring factors that brought all the pieces together, especially the Aussie Tiny Houses team. I merged my vision for improved living with Thiago’s building and project management skills. Together we engaged carpenters and developed the build team. Then I met Richard – a Melbourne Architect specialising in small space design, who visited the factory on a design job, fell in love with our work in the world and joined the team!

We understand our clients and prioritises helping them create homes that suit their needs. It’s this focus that enables us to manage growth in the company, no matter what the economy is doing, while continuing to offer quality housing, made by craftsmen with over 35 years experience, to an ever-growing market.
I believe that a Tiny House is more than a product, it’s the lifestyle it creates. A Tiny House gives people a way to escape from having to work too hard, only to pay for empty space of a big house with high fences blocking them from the community and what they really want. A Tiny House gives people more time for experiences, for nature and to spend with family.

Opening doors to possibilities
Since the company began, Aussie Tiny Houses has built over 100 houses. I really like working with clients to generate new design ideas which have been included in our expanding range of standard models.
Our Aussie Tiny House factory has moved and grown twice! Located in Coolum Queensland, our factory and showroom can now build 7 houses at once. Once the design is confirmed and the trailer has arrived, it takes the build team approximately 6 weeks to complete a house ready for delivery. I’m proud to say we can guarantee your house will be ready on time and within budget.
